Cheaha Bank is participating in the FDIC's Temporary Transaction Account Guarantee Program which provides depositors with unlimited coverage for non-interest bearing transaction accounts. Noninterest-bearing checking accounts include Demand Deposit Accounts (DDAs) and any transaction account that has unlimited withdrawals and that cannot earn interest. Coverage under the Transaction Account Guarantee Program is in addition to and separate from the coverage available under the FDIC's general deposit insurance rules. Also included are IOLTA accounts (regardless of the interest rate) and Negotiable Order of Withdrawal Accounts (NOW accounts) that do not earn more than .0.5% interest through June 30, 2010 and 0.25% after July 1, 2010. However, all NOW accounts, regardless of the interest rate, will still receive the standard coverage under the FDIC's general deposit insurance rules. The program is temporary and will remain in effect through December 31, 2010, unless extended by the FDIC.
